Owning the computer for home is one of the essential requirements. Home user expecting to use internet, software like MS Office, Watching movie, using chatting tools like skype or gtalk and some photo viewer and editor. Building the computer for home use is shouldn’t be too hard. To run the above software you need the average processor and standard motherboard with few USB port to connect to external device is must.
Processor: Dual core processor with minimum 2GHz is more than enough for your basics needs. Go for AMD Athlon II processor it is comparatively cheaper then Inter processor.
Memory: 4GB RAM is fine enough for running Word processor, Video chat, Web browsing etc. You can go for dual channel memory for faster performance. Your normal use required 2GB RAM and you can run the multiple applications without any issue.
Storage: Home use expected to use the system to store the photo, documents, video and music. You can go for 500GB hard disk and go for external drive for backup and storing additional files.
Connectivity: Home computer used to connect to external drive, downloading photo from Camera. Go for 3-4 USB ports, if you thinking to purchase laptop then choose Bluetooth connectivity, If you looking for desktop then select the front cabinet USB port.
Monitor: Home user expected to use the system for couple of hours. Expected to use the 2 to 3 hours at a stretch, you can go for 15 or 17 inch monitor. Go for TFT/LED monitor consuming less space.
Printer: Inkjet printer is good enough for home usage. It is cheap and maintenance free. This is good choice if you looking for taking the printout of receipts, basic documents, online reservation tickets etc.
Peripherals: You can go for optical mouse and USB keyboard. Go for stereo speakers, Good head phone for video chatting. External memory card reader is good choice to transfer photo from Camera to computer. Go for compact cabinet it helps you to save some space. DVD writer will be right choice to store and transfer your document and taking the backup.
Inexpensive home computers: If you do not intend to use it for long hours then do not spend too much money on your computer. As I felt computer time span is around 5 years, after sure you think to replace your system. You can go for notebook or laptop it cost around 200USD to 400USD.
